BBC 'Loses' Indies' Health & Safety Documentation
Posted on 9th March 2007
After dropping a weight of new Health & Safety requirements on radio indies with no consultation or consideration, the BBC have managed to 'lose' several indies' H&S documentation!
The new requirements have put incredible pressure on radio indies, with some not being contracted or paid due to documenatation being incorrectly completed. However, the BBC have been wholly unhelpful in advising the indie sector on what it's requirements are, and as such RIG has been forced to step in and help find solutions...with the help of 1st Option H&S advisors.
But for some indies, there was an accustation of not delivering the required paperwork, when in fact the indies had done the work many months beforehand. It appears that several companies' paperwork was simply 'lost'. This resulted in those companies having to spend yet more time re-applying and in some cases having contracts and payments seriously delayed.
The issues have now been dealt with and RIG has been assured by the BBC that such mistakes will not happen again.
